Frozen Head State Park & Natural Area

Frozen Head State Park is located about 7 miles east of Wartburg - the county seat of Morgan County. Situated in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains of east Tennessee, the park contains some 13,122 acres of relatively undisturbed forest. Frozen Head has some of the richest wildflower areas in the state, several waterfalls and well designed hiking trails. The mountainous terrain varies from an elevation of 1340 feet to over 3,000 feet on 16 different mountain peaks. Frozen Head with an elevation of 3,324 is one of the highest peaks in Tennessee, West of the Great Smoky Mountains. In the wintertime, the mountain peaks will sometimes be capped with snow or ice while the valley below is untouched; creating some of the most spectacular views in the region. The park's lush vegetation, small streams, waterfall's and beautiful mountains blend to make Frozen Head one of Tennessee's most scenic parks.

Outdoor adventure at frozen head includes mountain stream fishing for rainbow trout (seasonal), hiking the 80 miles of very scenic and challenging foot trails, biking, picnic pavilions and playgrounds and swimming in the creek. For more information on Frozen Head State Park visit their website
